Alrighty, I used to forum rp a lifetime ago. Something that used to really piss me off is I'd put a lot of thought into my post, read, reread, gnaw on my fingernails, and hit -Post-. Mind you, I'd wait to make sure there were people in the thread before doing this.
I'd wait in anticipation for someone, anyone to respond... and they didn't. I would feel like complete crap and really stupid for feeling like crap in the first place, after all, it's just text >.>'
But each and every time, my reasonings couldn't sooth that feeling of rejection. So, I started pming others First with an idea of how what I had in mind and see if they were interested. Now, in some forums, I always got "No." Again, I thought it was because people thought I wrote pisspoor and didn't want anything to do with me. It's the only reason I'd say no to someone.
Turns out, most were intimidated by the way I wrote and didn't want to feel stupid by posting something that wasn't on par. But that was the exception to the rule.
The rule on the other hand is that when you give people a heads up, they're more inclined to be interested if you give them an idea you have. They're here to rp as well! But when you go -BLAM- and post out of nowhere or have an open ended post that gives no tangible idea of where you want to go with it, people don't know what to do so they don't respond.
I'm here to rp. So I'll be pming members asking if they wanna rp an idea in the forum! It also gives me a chance to get an idea of what each of my rp partners finds entertaining.
And... given the givens, we shouldn't demand to be entertained unless we're willing to entertain <3
