Geneviève sat in her bureau, a black mug sat upon her desk with a silver spoon stirring its contents lazily. She sat curled up within the large zebra print chair. Her eyes dazed and lost in another world. It was early, though the sun had risen at least an hour prior. Genie always had her best sight in the morning, things were so much clearer when they came then.
She lifted her wand, which had sat on the cushion beside her, flicking it lightly at the direction of the cup. Both it and the spoon slowly floated over to her in the chair. She smiled softly, inhaling the pleasant aroma of her milky black tea. Gene set her wand down as her slender fingers curled around the mugs handle, the spoon still stirring idly. The spoon finally coming to a frozen halt as the mug was lifted to her pale pink lips.
Holding the mug in her lap, she returned to her thoughts of the previous evening. There were not enough words in her small English vocabulary to describe the events. Her blue eyes narrowed as her mind zoomed through bits and pieces of conversations. Shopping, Morgan, staff room, the feast, left, right, right, left. But it all came to a cease on a rather unusual topic. Ancestral Magical Studies Syllabus. Genie frowned as her mind recalled the brief conversation she’d had over it after finding one floating around the Castle.
Geneviève stood up, her tartan dress falling to her knees as she set the mug back down on a small table. She smoothed her hands over the skirt lightly, pressing out the nonexistent wrinkles within it. She walked over to her desk, moving the astrological maps around until she found the questionable syllabus. Holding it up, she frowned. It was decided, she needed to go visit her so-called mentor, Razeil Black.
Genie was swift and shortly out the door of her office and on her way down from the Divination tower to deep within the dungeons. It was quite the trip, but not long enough to note the time it spent. She stood at the door for a moment, her hands at her waist sitting upon the black bow belt that was wrapped around her skirt. She lifted her right hand and adjusted the black beret upon her head before rapping lightly upon the door. “Monsieur Black!” Geneviève called, rapping against the door before opening it and letting herself in. Her heels clicking against the hard floor as she shut the door behind her; “bonjour, Razeil,” she said again as she looked around. His office was… bland, to say the least. Gene felt compelled to decorate it for him, but it wasn’t her place. It truly looked like a dungeon. Her blue eyes glanced at the owl in the corner and she scowled. Owls… Genie thought, looking around the office. [/blockquote]

Razeil had been sleeping on his desk in his ferret form when he had heard the knock. He bolted off the desk, slipping under one of the desks in the room waiting to see who it was. He didn't know what he would do to get out of this without some one finding him in his ferret form. Looking up, he saw his way out. The Closet where he kept his jacket for the colder months. Deciding that was the best option he would need a distraction. Rosaline so happened to be walking towards the door as Genie had opened it. Why was she here so bloody early, he thought as Rosaline was still heading towards her through a path under the desks.
The owl in the cage was sleeping, leaning against the bar of his perch within the cage. It was a tiny little burrowing owl. It's chest was rising and lowering slow in slumber as it spent most of it's day resting due to it's age. Razeil was no where to be seen in the room itself, It was quiet and calm but the office was unlocked which was weird, and his wand was on his desk which was even more weird. Genie would feel something brush against her legs before hearing the loud Meow of Razeil's gray cat, Rosaline. The cat would purr and meow wantingly at her before a creamy latte colored ferret with dark brown fur sleeves on his legs and tail darted from under a seat.
The cat would dart off behind the ferret chasing it around the room, up on a student's chair, over the desk, then back to the floor before disappearing behind a large cabinet next to Razeil's desk at the back of the room. Once he was sure Genie couldn't see him inside the closet of his office, Razeil would shift forms from his ferret self to his normal human self before grabbing his black jacket trying to make it look like he was struggling with it.
Suddenly, Razeil would stumble out of where the two animals had disappeared to fumbling with his jacket as he pulled it on mumbling. "Rosaline watch where you're running off to will you?" He asked his cat as if she would speak to him. He looked up seeing Genie, blue eyes looking her over admiring the outfit she was in. "Well, Hello Genie, is there something I can assist you with? Perhaps you came for some hot chocolate or maybe a few chocolate frogs?" He pulled his top drawer on the right side of the desk. "I think I have some every flavor jelly beans still. I only eat the Grass flavored ones." He stated as he fumbled with things in his desk.

Geneviève’s dark blue eyes looked beyond the owl in its cage. They wandered across the empty desks and general emptiness of the room back to his desk. Examining his desk carefully, she noted his wand. Her head tilted to the side curiously, “’ello? Raze—ah!” Genie squealed, recoiling away from the fur rubbing against her leg. The cat meowed and she sneered at it, Genie really didn’t like animals.
Smoothing her hands across her dress, Genie regained composure, although she continued to keep an eye on the cat. Though that was short-lived, for another furry creature appeared, bolting across the floor with the cat in pursuit. It took Geneviève’s best restraint to avoid another awful squeal at the cat and mouse chase. Her eyes following the two creatures like a hawk; chair, desk, floor, and finally the cabinet where they remained.
Oddly enough, Razeil appeared out of the very cabinet the two furry… things had vanished to. Genie found it suspicious, giving him a look before placing her hands on her waist. “Bonjour, Razeil.” Genie said in a sweet tone that was soon to turn sour. “Zat cat was chasing a rat,” she approached his desk slowly, keeping an eye out for more stirring animals. She giggled, listening to him offer her a variety of chocolate items. “Eesn’t eet a bit early for chocolate?” Genie prodded smirking as he mumbled something about the grass bertie botts, “actually, I came to deescuss a few other zings with you, monsieur.” [/blockquote]

Razeil stopped moving as he looked at her out of the corner of his eyes. She was a gorgeous woman, hair type matched that he wanted in a woman, gorgeous eyes, soft lips and skin, but she was...he didn't know how to explain it. Something didn't sit right with him about her, but she was the friend of the girl who did sit right with him. Blue eyes scanning her as she said it was to early for chocolate after insulting him. Rat?! What kind of woman was she not to notice he was a ferret. He shook his head sighing a bit, "It's a ferret Genie, not a rat." HE said grumpily as he sat down in his chair behind his large man drawered desk. "Please have a seat. What is it that you want to discuss?"
His hands fidgeted on the arms of his comfy, soft, black leather chair. Legs crossing at the ankles as his blue eyes remained on her, staring her in her face; eyes when she would look up. Razeil's own blue eyes searching her's for something. Possibly the oddity that made her her, or maybe the reason that he was so...interested in her. Wait, wasn't that one in the same? He shook his head and sighed a bit. She wanted to talk and here he was analyzing her. He didn't mind keeping her in his company, but he didn't like her being to close. He wasn't sure why he didn't like her close, he just didn't.

”A…ferret…” Genie mumbled, it still seemed like a funny looking rat in her blue eyes. “Attente, a ferret? How ees it zat you know? You were in your zat cabinet!” Geneviève gestured to it lightly, eyeing him suspiciously once more. Her lips pursed as she stared at him calculating. Something was off, and she would find an answer to it. But first, Genie had other things to tend to.
Her pursed lips transformed into a light smile as he offered for her to sit. She smoothed the skirt of her dress beneath her as she sat, crossing her legs and then folding her hands upon her knee. “Razeil, I came to talk to you about your seellabus,” Genie began, meeting his gaze. She was struggling to find words that were neither French nor rude. “Vous êtes fou? You’re mad, Razeil. Encouraging ze students to be ‘blown up’ by arteefacts?!”
Genie paused, unsure of what to expect from him for a reaction. “Ze muggle parents, monsieur! Ze students will be pulled from zese school faster zan you can bleenk! And you are to be my mentor? ‘Ave you any mind?” She leaned in, narrowing her eyes at him as if she was trying to spot the insanity the dwelled within him. [/blockquote]

Razeil's eyes widened a bit before narrowing them at her while she spoke. How did he know about it? He had no way to explain it other than to make up some exaggeration of the ferret some how meeting him in the cabinet/closet he had there. He nodded before sighing, "I have a hole in the cabinet apparently. I was in there because I like to get dressed in the dark. Even if it's just my jacket." He nodded again as if he was reassuring himself. Maybe he was insane...that explanation was a bit out there even for him. Maybe she would fall for it...
Hearing her concerns about the students and the fact he might actually be mad, Razeil leans forward, "Is insanity a turn on for you Madame Olivier? Is that why you keep returning to my room or in my pressense or is it because your stuck with me? Perhaps a combination of the two." He laughs before leaning back, "The syllabus has a hidden section to it, easily revealed with a wand swish. Not even magic if you ask me. Just an activation word so the students will not be in trouble for using magic out of school. I have covered my bases so to speak and yes, I am your Mentor, Genie. You mustn't be so...harsh and strict as life is far to short to be the responsi-" His words were gone as he had leaned back to far in his chair and the chair flew out from under him, or rather the rolling wheels did, and he slammed into the floor for the second time before a week had past.

Victoria strolled up to Razeil's office, expecting him to be alone. Standing beside the doorway where she couldn't be seen, she heard Genie's yelling and almost giggled to herself, remembering she'd left a copy of Raz's syllabus in her office yesterday as they gossiped about the festivities that were the Great Feast the night before that. She'd seen it and gotten angry. Victoria saw the humour in his syllabus, but in a way, Genie was right. What ABOUT the muggle parents? They'd likely send their children back to muggle school, and then what? The next great witch or wizard will have been prevented by one Razeil Black. Still, hearing her go off on Raz in her adorable french accent made her giggle. She stood by, listening, as Genie's rant ended and Razeil spoke.
"Is insanity a turn on for you Madame Olivier? Is that why you keep returning to my room or in my pressense or is it because your stuck with me? Perhaps a combination of the two." A turn on? What was he, some sort of manwhore? It was what, two nights ago he'd taken her hand and led her to the Great Feast, ate, then danced under the charmed moonlit ceiling? She'd been happy with him, almost ecstatic even, twirling under the night sky in her blue cocktail dress and silver and diamond jewelry she'd especially picked out. The earrings were goblin made, even! She'd spent so much time on it, and now he was flirting up her best friend. No matter, she thought. Genie would know how she felt. This wasn't petty best friend drama, this was a man who didn't know what he wanted. With a flick of her wand, she watched him lean into his chair, and she pushed the chair out from under him. That'll teach him to play her and her friend. She giggled softly to herself and lean back against the wall, still not seen by Genie, Raz, or his 'zoo,' as she'd fondly called it.

Her brows furrowed and a look of disgust tainted her face. “I deedn’t know zat ferrets roamed around like gutter rats…” Her voice trailed off and she continued to eye him suspiciously. She had nearly forgotten the unusual jacket portion of their incident. This man was surely bonkers and clearly hiding something and the more he spoke the more Geneviève knew she had to get to the bottom of it.
Metaphorically speaking, Genie’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor at Razeil’s accusations. Her dark blue eyes widened and her face blushed with a violent red that leaned on the side of anger. “Monsieur Black!” She gasped, sneering at him, “très désagréable! Zis ees my first time to your bureau and you accuse me of infatuation?!” Her blue eyes could’ve burned holes in his forehead. “Sadly, ze protégé do not get to peeck their mentors.” She closed her eyes for a moment, listening to him talk about the hidden portion of the syllabus.
“I saw your little trick, Razeil. Eet’s clever, but like I said. Ze muggle parents! Zey cannot see zis portion and even zen!” By then Genie had regained her composure, although her words still spit fire in a foreign tongue. “Fou, fou, fou…” she mumbled under her breath before meeting his eyes once more. He went on to tell her something about being uptight. “I am not upti—“ her words were cut short as he fell of his chair. Instantly a few giggles escaped Geneviève’s painted lips, but were silenced by her own ladylike tendencies. She leaned forward, looking over his desk at him on the floor, a smirk creeping upon her face.
“’ow am I to take anything you say seriously, when you seet on ze floor?” She questioned him, cocking an eyebrow. [/blockquote]

The second time in less than a week. He had to be on a record or something. He climbed up and forced the chair into position. "I've no reason to accuse you of being infatuated with me Madame Olivier, but I have already told you that the hidden portion can be revealed by a simple set of words. It's like....invisible ink the muggles use. They don't have to use their own magic to activate the magic on the paper and ink. All they have to do is mumble the words Insanity is Sanity" As he finished the statement every one of the syllabi in his room seemed to bring forth the words from literally no where. "I added the wand to paper bit to make it seem like I was making people use their magic. When all it is is Command Words of ancient times." He went on and on about how he had discovered the use of Command Words over wand flicking and such when associating with the items he used in his lessons.
Clearing his throat, he ran his hand over his jacket before sitting back down. "Again, ferret. It was running from Rosaline, I don't think Rosaline likes it stealing her food." He again lied. Running his hand through his hair he looked to her curiously. "I've no reason to assume you are wanting to be anything other than a friend Genie, Though I could have sworn you were in here before now. Perhaps it's the dreams again...are you sure you haven't walked in her in a tight little dress and sitting on my desk telling me I'm a naughty Mentor for ignoring little old you? Ah, Perhaps they were my dreams...Sometimes I wonder how I sleep at night..." He blinked before jumping up on his feet shaking his hands in front of him. "I didn't mean that in a bad way. I just meant you're not what I have my eyes on. I've my eyes on a rose like no other..." He mumbled smiling in his thoughts as he relived his memory before blinking. "I mean, I don't find you unattractive...though I would be lying if I said I did. In fact, you're very gorgeous in your own right Genie...." He sighed closing his eyes realizing he had repeated himself, then realizing he was talking about her beauty.
Yanking his desk open, he grabbed a purple box before holding it out to her. "Chocolate Frog? Perhaps it's late enough to consume something sweet and to forgive your Mentor's....disturbing humor. Maybe think of the tiny head of the frog as mine and let off some steam perhaps?" He said with a weak smile as he had wondered what it would be like to be a chocolate frog. "I wonder what the sights would be..." He said aloud as if he had mentioned his own thoughts to her when in fact he hadn't.

Victoria smirked at hearing Genie's reaction to her little prank. She wondered if he knew his chair had been meddled with or if he'd simply thought he was being clumsy around the girls again. Listening carefully, she smiled at his response, realising now that he'd been joking. "I've my eyes on a rose like no other..." This made her think he knew she was nearby and was correcting himself. It was sweet though, and she felt her cheeks flush as he said it. Alright, she thought. Time to get this show on a roll, she had a detention to supervise.
Calmly turning into the doorway with a light tap on the door, she put on her prettiest smile and smoothed out her green dress. She'd decided today she was feeling a bit wild, and wanted to show off some of her new clothes. Pushing her hair back, in a flirtatious way but not so flirtatious it was obvious, she looked to Razeil. "Good morning, Raz, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." She gave a smirk to Genie, indicating that she'd been there a while, and was proud that her best friend had been loyal to her. She shifted to wink at Genie so that Raz wouldn't see, and eyed the chair, placing a hand on her hip to indicate where her wand was. "Are you ok, Razeil? I heard a thunk in here before I came in, and was wanting to see if you wanted to check out my redecorated classroom in progress. It's expected to be done before class this morning, if you would want to follow me in and take a look."
Looking over to Genie, she realised Genie knew what she was doing, who was in detention, and how she wanted this to play out. "You can come too, Genie! I need to make some more coffee in my office." And with that she turned and headed for the door, her long hair falling in her face as she turned to look at the pair of them. This was certainly going to be an interesting year.

Geneviève gave him a funny look as he went on about some muggle ink. “Monsieur, I do not know what you are talking about, zis eenvisible eenk.” But clearly Razeil was off on his own tangent about some form of command words, which were not important to the matter at hand to Genie. So unimportant, in fact, that she—like a lady—had resisted the urge to yawn loudly. Her eyes staring at him with mock interest that couldn’t be detected and only when he cleared his throat did she finally start paying attention again.
“Quelle horreur! If you’d like, I can let the ‘ouse elves know zat zey ‘ave a beet of a ferret problem, Razeil.” But a smirk grew on her pale pink lips as she said it, whatever he was trying to hide he was failing at miserably. However Genie was polite and let him carry on with his ferme talk.
Are you sure you haven't walked in her in a tight little dress and sitting on my desk telling me I'm a naughty Mentor for ignoring little old you?
Geneviève’s eyes became the size of planets. “Razeil Black!” Her voice nearly shrieked, “I am a lady! How dare you?!” The planets that were Genies eyes had turned into daggers. Lady or not, Razeil’s life was on the line. Luckily for Razeil, a special someone had arrived. Her eyes returned to normal as she turned to Victoria and smiled, instantly picking up on Vic’s expressions.
“Bonjour, Veek.” Genie greated her best friend with a devilish smile, “I’d love to join you!” Genie stood up slowly as Victoria walked out the door. Turning back to Razeil she eyed him carefully, “this isn’t over, Monsieur. My bureau zis day later.” She walked over to the door, turning around briefly placing her hands upon her hips. “Are you coming or no?” [/blockquote]

Razeil blinked before jumping and seeing Victoria appear before him in the room. He fidgeted almost as soon as she had appeared. He looked around curiously, trying to find an escape root without consciously realizing he was. Licking his lips, he looked back to her tilting his head to the side, "How long have you been there Victoria?" He wondered if she had heard the jokes...or the fact he had mentioned his eyes were on a particular rose and not one like Genie. He gulped nervously before hearing Genie's voice talking about how she was a lady. Of course she was, did she think he thought she was a goblin or something.
Razeil glanced back to Genie as he nearly growled out loud when she had mentioned the ferret problem. "I don't have a ferret problem Genie, I told you that. The ferret was just passing by. Probably a smuggled in pet from on of the students or something." He grumbled as he ran his hand through his hair. Listening to the invite he nodded and slipped around his desk grabbing his wand before heading to the door with the two of them."Ferret problem....pft" He grumbled as he slipped out and would head towards Victoria's class not far down the hall.
