Eliana flicked her hazel eyes down her schedule. She had added the Ancestral Magic class, knowing little about it. She had hoped to drop another class before adding it, but to no avail. Now, she was curious about the newest teacher. She had heard rumors that he was good looking, and her mischievous side was even curious. She folded the sheet of paper and slid it into her messenger bag.
With careful steps in her newest pair of pink chucks, and hooking a dark red strand hair behind one ear, she made her way to the offices. She saw few people around, and realized it was probably later than she thought. She shrugged the thought away. Finally, she was outside of his office. She poised her hand to knock, but realized there was no real reason to be there. She let her hand fall to her side, and a small frown crossed her pretty face. She took a few steps back from his door and leaned up against the wall outside of his office,
Tapping a finger against her pink lips, she tried hard to think of a reason to come and see him. She did have doubts about the class, and how useful it would be to her education. But she didn't think that was proper to bring that up to him now. Dragging a hand through her red locks she fingers the brass knuckles necklace resting under her uniform top. She supposed she could just stand outside of his office for awhile, but then she would look like a weirdo.
Standing straight up from the wall, she crosses the hallway and knocks on his door. Something would present itself to her, she was sure. And if it didn't she could always run in the opposite direction.

The noise following her knock wouldn't be one that could have ever been expected. BOOM! Followed by a thud then, "Just a moment..." A strong deep voice came from the other side of the door. A few moments after that the door's locks were undone, to be exact four locks were undone, before the large wooden door was pulled open revealing a tall, slim male with dark brown hair messily around his light colored face. Stubble peppered his jawline and upper lip as he hadn't shaved in the past few days. Piercing blue eyes glide down from his expected location of where the visitor's face would have been, to her's.
"Oh, Hello, is there....something I can help you with?" He asked not to sure why a student would be coming to his office before the great feast. Tilting his head, he took in her features. Specifically her light colored skin, red hair, and her hazel eyes. His hands resting on the door frame and holding the door partially open before he realized how rude that was. "Oh, you must have come here seeking something I'm sure. As moving down into the dungeons for anything other than class or to see a teacher would be odd." He looked behind him before turning and slipping into his class. "You can shut the door when you come in. I don't need Rosaline trying to escape again." He stated aloud as he moved behind his desk shoving something into his desk.
In the corner of the room was a caged tiny burrowing owl who was sleeping; odd since a large explosion had just gone off. He sighed softly as Rosaline was laying across his desk, his hand brushing across her gray fur carefully. "Sorry, I don't know your name child....or why you are down here in the dungeon visiting me. Please have a seat though and I will help you as best as I can." His lips curled into a smile as he looked at her while speaking only to cast his eyes to his cat after he was done.

Eli let out a small squeak at the loud boom, and then took a step back as he approached the door. He was tall, and very…She let her eyes roam his face. He was good looking, just like the rumors had suggested. But now he wanted to know what she was doing here. As he turned his back on her and went back into the room, commanding her to shut the door to keep his cat in, she bade as told. The door shut with a sort of final click behind her, and she nearly jumped at the sound. Where did her bravery and courage go, she thought, recognizing the nerves in herself.
Finally, the time had come. He wanted an answer as to what she was doing. “Hi there. I’m Eliana Winters, Eli for short, 5th year, Hufflepuff. I just transferred into your class…” Her eyes, shifting color from their light hazel to a muted green because of the lighting change, take in his office, admiring his desk and the beautiful grey cat on top. She feels a small smile hover on her lips as he strokes the animal, lovingly it seemed. The sleeping owl in the corner made her smile wider. She made a note that he was an animal lover in her mind.
“Would you mind if I sat? I promise I won’t take up too much of your time Professor Black. I just had a few concerns about the class work, and the permission slip my parents signed,” she says, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk.
She pulls her messenger bag off her shoulders and lets it fall to the ground quietly, easing the burden off her shoulders slightly. “Your cat is lovely. Rosaline was her name? Isn’t that the from the play Romeo and Juliet?” She realizes she is spouting a bit of nonsense now and bites her lower lip to keep anymore words from tumbling out.

Razeil blinked having taken in her introduction and staring at her while she continued to speak. Eliana Winters, Eli for short. Interesting name, far more interesting than his own he thought. Her eyes changed, something he noted as he wasn't one to let details slip away because that meant risks, risks meant danger, and danger meant he had to kill people. He wasn't a killer, well he was, but he wasn't one to enjoy it like his late cousin Bellatrix. Shaking his head of his thoughts he heard her ask to sit, she was a cute girl seeking permission to do things that he wouldn't have minded her doing since he had invited her in.
He opened his mouth to answer her only to have her keep talking. A small smile slipped back to his lips as he admired her comfort in speaking to a complete stranger. He nodded to her question about his cat's name. "Of course you can sit, and I have time before the feast to speak with a student of mine. What concerns did you have about the syllabus and the class? I thought I was fairly straight forward when it came to the two of them." He stopped petting Rosalina who mewed angrily before rolling to stand up. He watched the cat stretch her form out before slipping away from him and down on the floor to brush against Eli's leg.
"Her name is Rosalina, the name is in the play you're speaking of I believe, but I didn't name her after that specifically. I just happened to like Rosalina since I have a sort of like towards Roses. So, in a since she is the beauty I can carry with me in times of travel though those times are long gone." He said thinking back and reliving an old memory. "Did you know a giant's sneeze can feel much like a damp wind in the morning...I couldn't have told the difference were it not for the horrid smell..." He said aloud as if she would understand his memory he had just relived in his own little world.

Eli felt his cat rub against her leg and leaned down to pet it slowly down its back. It purred quietly and she smiled, glancing up at her teacher’s strange question, but taking it in stride. “I did not know that a giant’s sneeze felt or smelt like that…But I will keep it in mind the next time I am around a giant to steer clear.” Patting the cat one more time on the head, she reaches around her to pull the Syllabus from her bag.
“Now, I was just curious, the boom I heard before coming in, did that have something to do with our class coming up?” She asks, eyeing him suspiciously. “I know my parents think that they know everything that goes on here, but they are sadly, Muggles. As much as I love them, I try to keep the magical world away from them. I know you probably aren’t wanting to endanger your students. So I guess it’s not a real concern. Mostly, I’m concerned for my future. I’m hoping taking your class will help give me an edge in what I want to do after here.”
Her gaze slides away from his as she puts the syllabus onto his desk and smoothes it out. Her chipping black nail polish gleaming in the light. She tries to ignore it, but suddenly wishes she had taken the time to fix it before arriving at school. She drops her hands into her lap as she reads over the syllabus again. “I just wanted to know…” she trails off again as she looks him in the face again and blushes hard, forcing her eyes back down to the paper. If he wasn’t so good looking, she would be able to focus. She cleared her throat a few times, but found her concentration gone after locking eyes with him again.

Razeil's eyes lingered on her as she spoke, then glancing to the fireplace he noted he needed to clean it. Pulling his wand, he waited until she was in a pause of her speaking before pointing his wand at the fireplace. "Tergeo." He said confidently before the fireplace would suddenly be removed of all soot and residue looking nearly brand new. He put his wand on his desk before glancing to her nodding. "The explosion did indeed have something to do with the lessons you will be learning. But, I will not let you know what exactly it is until I am able to teach it." He said softly to her.
Watching her lift his syllabus out of her bag and setting it out, he laughed to himself. He had been laughing like a mad man when he had written that piece of paper. He figured he would make people laugh with it but wasn't thinking to much about his presentation of himself to others. He closed his eyes thinking about the fact that some people might think he was insane, or unfit to be a teacher. He shrugged a bit before reopening his blue orbs looking her over as she had trailed off in mid sentence. "Eli?"
It was odd that the girl had stopped mid sentence, He didn't know that she had admired his looks. Nor would he ever know, he was just that out of his own senses some times. His eyes glancing to Rosaline who jumped up in the other chair curling up and purring loudly. Fleckle, his annoying owl, woke up and glanced around the room with large golden orbs. He spread his wings flapping, but no noise would be heard as he squawked and flapped his wings angrily at his food bowl wasn't full.

She flushes, realizing she had trailed off in mid sentence. Clearing her throat delicately, she pulls her wand from the bag and taps the bottom of the piece of paper, mumbling the incantation quietly. The rest of the syllabus appears and she re-reads it for what seems to be the millionth time. Flicking her eyes back up at him, she smiles. “I apologize. I was distracted. And I wouldn’t want to know before hand what we are doing, I love surprises. Will it matter that I’m muggle born is what I was really wondering. I have no ancestry to speak of in the magical world.”
Tapping the syllabus with the end of her swirly wand, she focuses on the words. “I know you are a Black, and I do know that in the past some of your family has not been…kind to my sort. But I am willing to believe in the best of people. No matter where they come from. I’m merely hesitant because of my lack of ancestry but am very interested in this class.” After finishing her little speech, her green eyes come back to look at him and they dart to the owl behind him, she had barely noticed.
“You’re owls’ bowl is empty, Professor. I think he might be cranky if you don’t feed him. I know the Owls in the Owlery get a bit mad when I run out of Owl Pellets when I go to visit them. So does my own owl Darcy. He’s a picky eater anyway.” She wrinkles her nose, and lets out a small nervous laugh and smoothes her hands down her uniform skirt. “I’ve started reading the required reading for History of Magic and wondered if your class had anything to do with that also.”
Thinking over her questions, she nods, believing she covered all of the points she wanted. “I want to be a teacher someday, so I’m hoping that you’re class will be a good sort of step in the right direction. Though, I admit, my strength is in Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts…” She lets her sentence trail off again, her eyes darting to the cleaned fireplace and then back to his wand on his desk.

Razeil blinked listening to her talk about the Blacks of the past. The previous generations having hated on muggles, muggle borns, and half bloods. He tilted his head to the side as she went on about the class and how she was interested in it. He wasn't sure why she was worried about and even more about the fact that as a 5th year muggle born who seemed to be worried about her blood history, but never researching it. He smiled a bit before nodding, "I suppose you could say that I am an oddity in my family. I am not fond of blood rivalry or blood hatred. You're as welcome in my room as any pure blood."
"In fact, are you aware that there are no truly non-magical families? You were not born from a non-magical family, but some where in the past some one in your direct family tree and a squib who was out cast by his or her family procreated and thus the magic gene was passed down in your family starting there. So, in a sense, you do have a magic history little Eli." He smiled reassuringly, not wanting her to feel like a weirdo or anything like that while in the company of any pure blood.
Glancing over his shoulder to the charmed cage in which his owl was in so he couldn't make noise, Razeil sighed before shaking his head. "I fed him before he went to bed. He stays with me always so he doesn't get over fed. He is mad because his cage door isn't open. I don't let him out when I'm working usually because he likes to mess with me. We don't get along." He said before turning to look to her again. He sighed before nodding. "Well, the Ancestral Magics you will learn here will and could be very much useful in the future. Teacher or not, the old magic is strong and good to know. Both Defensive and Offensively speaking."

Eliana let out a small sigh of relief as he informed her. She had honestly never thought of the option of a Squib being how she was able to perform her magic. Of course everyone had heard of Squibs here, but the idea was relatively new to her. She nods her head at the thought, losing herself for a moment in tracing her family tree in her mind. She would definitely have to ask her parents at a later date about the possibility of a Squib in their family.
“Ah well, owls are a bit funny that way aren’t they? My own Owl is very…well. He doesn’t get along with the other Owls much, but he’s not allowed to stay in the dorm with me. So he kind of gets very jealous when I go up to visit him. He also gives love bites though when I bring him his Owl Pellets. As for the Squib in the family, I’ll have to look into it. It really sets my mind at ease though. The thought had never crossed my mind before.”
Her hair falls across her face, shading her eyes before reaching out to grab the syllabus from his desk. “Was there anything you would recommend I read before the class starts? I admit, I’m a bit of a bookworm at times. And I really am looking forward to the class.” She smiles shyly at him, her green eyes lighting up slightly as they rest on his face again. She can feel another blush working its way on her cheeks, but refuses to lose her concentration again.

Razeil smiled nodding to her as she talked about her owl. She was very close with her owl it seemed. He tilted his head as she mentioned the squib possibility. He knew that 99% of the time it was a squib in the family line years ago, generations back, that gave muggle borns their power. He glanced back to his cat, whom had rolled onto her back and curled her front paws under her head slightly as she napped under the light of the chandelier. He smiled warmly knowing his cat was very much as lazy as all cats her age were.
Upon hearing her question on the reading material, he blinked then pulled open one of the many drawers in his desk and removed a black book with gold lettering. 'Understanding Ancient Magic' by Razeil Black. "If you want to get started on the reading material here. But, you may or may not understand it." He said slipping the book across the desk where she was sitting near. He sighed a bit as he thought about the feast before tilting his head. He had never asked her why she was out wandering the halls or nothing, wasn't his student so he wasn't to worried about it. He looked around the room as he smiled, "Is there anything else I can help you with Ms. Winters?" He asked politely.

Looking at her desk, she reached down to grab the strange silver locket laying beside her bags. It had some sort of fancy engraving on it, and trying to pry it open, she was unsuccessful. "Must be Razeil's", she thought, stepping out of her room to take it to him. She gave a quick knock on the doorway before entering, seeing as the door was open. "Hello?" She looked around, seeing the bare walls of his office, an owl, his cat, and....a student? What was she doing here before the Feast?
Looking closer at her, she recognized Eli, a Hufflepuff, as one of her Potions students. She noted Eli's shy and somewhat flirtatious looks at Raz, and noted that she had, in her younger years, crushed on a teacher herself. Still, that was no excuse for wandering the halls before the Professors were ready, and intended to correct the situation. "Miss Winters, can I inquire why you're roaming the halls when you should be in the Great Hall with the other students? You know better by now, and I would hate to deduct points from your House before classes have even started." She gave Eli a stern look, then turned to Raz, holding the locket.
"You left this in my office...I'm not totally sure what it is, but it won't open." She noted that she had given away that she'd been nosy, and backtracked. "I got nosy," she added. "Anyway, Miss Winters, please return to the Hall. Here you go, Professor Black." Handing over the locket, she smiled at him. He did have very nice eyes, she thought.

Eli looked up at Professor Parker, and let out a little smile. “Sorry Professor. I’ll go there straight away, as soon as I’ve finished talking to Professor Black about the class. I just had some questions about the syllabus and the reading material, since I just transferred into it.” She turns her attention back to Raziel and smiles at him warmly. Standing, she grabs the book from his desk and picks up her bag, sliding her wand and the book inside.
“Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me Professor. I feel like I’ll definitely be ready for your class now. And I really appreciate you giving me the book, since I didn’t have time to get one while in Diagon Alley. I’ll start reading it soon. I don’t doubt I will have trouble with it, but I enjoy a challenge.”
She turns and takes a step around Professor Parker and smiles at her. “Love the jacket, Professor. See you at the feast.” Her eyes shifting back to hazel as she gets nearer to the light, she flicks them between the two, recognizing tension in their body language. There was more going on here that met the eye she thought. She felt a small pang in her heart and shook her head.
School girl crushes really were below her after all. On that thought, she left the room, taking a left out of his class to find some new mischief, and her best friend to report on the new very good looking teacher, and his strange, quirky and funny antics.

Razeil blinked looking up to Victoria as she entered his plain and boring office. He winced, instantly wondering what she was thinking about his room. Was it to bland, to normal, to...boring? Would that make him boring? What would she do next time they met, would she think he was boring because of his room was boring. He winced again before standing up and nodding to Eli. "It's my pleasure Ms. Winters. See you in class." He said before turning to Victoria. He noted the locket in her hand before slipping his hands into his pockets. He frowned at his stupid mistake before moving to her and taking it from her looking it over.
"Yes, this would be mine. It's part of my first lesson in class." He shook his head setting it on the desk before smiling to her. "Thank you for returning it. I would hate to have lost it and not been able to actually make the lesson plan I had wanted." He said shyly, "Can't believe I messed up like that." He shook his head before slipping his hands into his pockets. "So, is there anything else I can help you with or was that it?" He asked curiously.

Victoria nearly glared after Miss Winters, noting her attitude problem as of late. She'll have to have a discussion with her before class started, she thought. ...I enjoy a challenge? What the hell was that? Some kind of nod in her direction? The kid was 15, barely even old enough to drive a Muggle car in most countries. No matter, she wasn't interested in the new Professor anyway. She was simply returning a locket. She took note of the jacket comment though, smugly readjusting it and straightening her posture.
"Thank you, Miss Winters. Kindly retreat to the Great Hall now, before I have to report you to your Head of House. Also, Miss Winters," she paused. "I'll see you in my office for detention Monday morning. I won't tolerate attitude, and having spent 5 years in my class, you should know by now that I know when you're trying to be cheeky with me. Be prepared, and you might want to see the janitorial closet for some cleaning supplies before you get here at 6am. My classroom has gotten terribly dusty in my absence." Watching her leave, she made a note to send an Owl to Ursula explaining why her student was going to be awake and roaming the halls at 6am Monday morning, since classes didn't start until 9.
She turned to Razeil, handing over the locket to him and smiling. Looking around his room, she noted that though it was rather plain, it was very rustic and manly, a nice feel to it. He'd have time later on to decorate, anyway. It had taken her years to perfect her decorating skills, and maybe she would help him out at some point. "That's interesting, Mister Black. I was wondering what you were going to do, making a new subject and everything. I'm kind of excited to see what you have in store myself." For some reason, she noticed her gaze at him lasting too long to be cordial. She refused to dwell on it, but sure, he might be mildly attractive. Plus, he'd gotten her a gift. This new guy might not be so strange after all.

Razeil blinked hearing her state she had thought she might pop in and see him. He smiled warmly, his eyes looking to the side as he thought about things. He didn't know what he was really planing on doing when it came to things outside of his comfort area. The class, him being a teacher, and his life were all his comfort area and she was not. Every time she was around him he fidgeted and slipped on his words, shifted in his chair or on his feet, and sometimes stared at her to long. He still didn't understand it because of the fact that he had never met her til recently.
Taking a deep breath he smiled to her about to speak before Rosaline meowed and nuzzled along her leg. His blue eyes down cast looking his cat over as she once again took the spot light. He chuckled lightly, "You'll have to excuse Rosaline, she gets jealous of people getting attention while she's in the room. She follows me when I let her, though I need to make sure she doesn't get out of my office when I head to the feast soon." He was speaking calmly more clear when speaking about his cat. Realizing he wasn't keeping up his normal speech, he coughed and looked her over. "I uh....are you ready for the feast and seeing the newest students?"
