Name: Ursula Margaret Bennett
Age: 28
Position Applied For: Muggle Studies
Why: I have grown a fascination with the muggle world based on my apprenticeship with Margo Danae. I completed a year long process of transforming myself into the muggle world by not applying magic, and living among them. I want to bring back to the new generation of Hogwarts that by living through a book can only tell you in words what the subject in tells. With muggles, I lived it, felt it, and became one of them. The horrors of normalcy is beyond the difficulties of mixing potions, instead, you have to use your hands to create a foundation. We are gifted and must embrace our skills never taking for granted what we were born with.
What I would bring to the position: I bring that sense of personal experience. We have a variety of students that are not only born from one muggle parent or coming from both. Instead of those students feeling segregated; embrace those with their own knowledge. I will be doing hands on experiments where the young wizards will put down their wands and feel what I felt, I will encourage diary entries so the students write their thoughts and what they have been going through.
Towards the end of the year I do wish to bring the students on a field trip to see how muggles truly handle their lives. I am a firm believer in hands on experiences in order for the sponges of the mind to absorb every possible moment as well as lesson. I want the students to learn how the muggles eat, how they parent, how they handle situations. Logic vs emotion, it is simple for us to flick our wand or concoct a Good Luck Charm. For muggles, luck is all in their mind. I want to bring to the classroom what Muggles view magic is.
The horrific, gruesome tales of witches being burned and warlocks drowning, it is a terrifying past due to fear. I want the students to realize that fear drives us all. For them to be strong, proud, and controlled with each decision they make. At the end of the semester, I aim for the students to choose to cook their breakfast or flicking their wands to have the breakfast appear.
I appreciate the time you took in reading my application. I look forward to hearing from you.
